When designing a room Swedish Biedermeier tables are a great way to beautify a place or section of the room.
It is important that they are actually very useful and useable as every day tables whether in a hallway, lounge, office or bedroom.
Swedish Biedermeier tables are usually between 60 and 75cm tall and come in a variety of shapes. The most usual are a single pedestal with 4 feet sometimes in a simple design and sometimes with carved decoration or urn motifs. These are most round tables about 70-80cm in diameter.
Then you have the rectangular shape tables that have one or sometimes 2 pedestal tables with either a plinth base or 4 feet.
They are always decorated in show wood veneers usually golden birch, quilted mahogany or sometimes birdseye maple. They are top quality veneers in a honey, mid oak or darker finish and often with an ormolu style edging for contrast.
The veneers are in a quarter or 8th section shape to make a beautiful setting and finely french polished. Also on the best models you get stunning hand applied marquetry inlays on the table sides or plinths in a variety of themes including the intarsia greco roman style. These really catch the eye and are very sort after.
So the lighter colours will blend really well with most design environments and stand out as much or as little as you need them too.
My personal favorite Swedish Biedermeier tables are always the more ornate ones in the honey colour finish - they display beautiful wood grain and are exquisitely crafted.
